The factory internals in these engines are good to around the power they were designed for and fail predictably beyond it: ringland on the Subaru EJ, rods on the 4G63 at high boost, oil control on hard used track cars. A forged build moves that limit. It also needs running in properly, a correct calibration and oil changes at half the normal interval, and we say that before you buy rather than after. The tenth and eleventh generation Civic share much of their chassis with the Type R, which makes the good parts easy to find.

Fitting

Labour guide: about 14 hours. Japanese manufacturers change parts by build date and by market, and grey imports add a second layer to that. Send the VIN or chassis number with the order and we confirm the part against the build data before anything is dispatched.
