Toyota and Honda hybrid systems are exceptionally durable, and when a traction battery does weaken it is usually a few modules rather than the whole pack. Reconditioning with balanced modules is often the better value; a new pack is the right answer on a high mileage car you intend to keep. We test first and tell you which you need. The CR-V hybrid uses the iMMD two motor system, and the 1.5 turbo petrol had an oil dilution issue in cold climates that is worth understanding.

Labour guide: about 1 hour. Japanese manufacturers change parts by build date and by market, and grey imports add a second layer to that. Send the VIN or chassis number with the order and we confirm the part against the build data before anything is dispatched. Which version to buy

OEM is the same part made by the factory supplier, in that supplier's box. Identical in practice and usually 25 to 40 per cent cheaper than genuine. Genuine is in the manufacturer's own packaging with the manufacturer's number on it. Worth it for warranty work and a car with full dealer history.
